Whats the diff. between the City & Marion County tournament

I thought maybe it had to do with the old city boundary lines but that would of kicked Cathedral out. If all teams are in Marion County seems like it should just be a county tournament. Any thoughts?

City tourney is comprised of city schools. County tourney is comprised of county schools. The division of city and county schools goes way, way back. Basically, if a school was confined to IPS boundaries, they were considered a city school. If you were outside those boundaries, a school was considered a county school.

There have been extended modifications, particularly for city schools, to join ranks in recent years. Covenant Christian, for example, joined the city school; but, they're not inside the IPS boundary.
