So who is reloading for 16U

by Danible » Mon Aug 04, 2008 12:38 pm

So who is reloading for 16u. There sure seems to be a lot of teams moving up to play 16u this year. And all the supposed exposure teams. Its a wonder we have enough girls to play. Heck there were only 24 ASA "A" 16U teams registered this past year. Now I can count 12 just on the first page on eteamz. Talk about watered down. I think some of the name programs that are going from 14 to 16 are in for a surprise.

What does everyone else think.

I would agree that there doesn't seem to be enough, really legitimate "A" players to go around at 16u or 14u. I think we saw alot more teams that rostered 4-6 A players, then filled in the rest with less advanced kids than ever before..... I just hope we can land a couple of those "A" kids on our team, as we are moving up to 16u...!lol!

You'll see our ad bouncing back to the top of eteamz for a 2nd tryout. We didn't get near the response that we normally receive after the 1st tryout. After speaking with a couple coaching friends, they encountered the same issue. The top teams only had a handful come out. We currently have 8 or 9 solids, but need to fill the roster with 12 or 13 A's to be really competitive.

The Pride had a pretty good turn-out....we were looking to add a couple of athletic, well-rounded kids that could help in the outfield and/or wherever needed, and I hear we may have a couple of prospects..! (we're going with 11 players next year..)

Well, we rebounded nicely over the past two weeks and picked up some very quality players including a couple of pitchers and added some speed to the lineup. The coach talked about just waiting out the initial wave of tryouts. "They will come, they will come." Now we are getting ready for Ball State.
