Where where you born? Torrance, CA

When did you start playing softball? Started playing baseball with my brother Bill. Organized softball in 7th grade..yeooh Mission Viejo Bobby Sox Gold.

Who did you play travel ball, with who and for how many years? No such thing for me . I was competitive surfer

Can you tell us something about your college softball career?

A BLAST. No unis first year. Wore men's track team tshirts. I loved it. I wore Willie Banks. Future Olympic Triple Jumper. We the first National Championship(1978) we were in WE WON, we were the only team to wear shorts. Not the favorite. Went through tournament we didn't give up a run and got the RING! NO HELMETS, WHITE BALL, 28 OZ BATS..AND NO ONE GOT HURT BECAUSE WE HAD NO TRAINERS!

Do you play any other sports?

Competed on UCLA's Surf Team and UCLA's Rugby Team (yes, that's right!), IM football, and innertube waterpolo..back then we had the TOTAL experience..LOVED THAT!!


What do you do for fun? Surf, then surf again, then surf again.

What are your greatest softball accomplishments as a player? National Champion. .401 career batting ave. World Champion, Pan Am Champs (no Olympics back in the cave days)

What are your greatest softball accomplishments as a coach? 98% grad rate and over 15 former bruWins coaching college balll and 11 rings!

What would you like to tell the younger softball players that you were told or wish someone would have told you?


It's Not about you its about the team. Stop being such a selfish baby...remember you are a BIG fish in YOUR little POND..College is an ocean of big fish..put your armor on! Be positive and work your tail off...

What do you think about colleges recruiting players that are very young like 8th and 9th graders? Don't get me started on this one...buckle in..we are going in the WRONG direction

Just finished a movie with Reese Witherspoon coming out this December starring Jack Nicholson, Paul Rudd, and Owen Wilson

Writing a book on leadership out later this year
Last, and my MOST favorite, teaching the game in camps and clinics. I LOVE THIS GAME!!!
AND NOT MISSING ONE SWELL THE COMES IN!!


What advice can you give parents that have girls playing softball?
Buy 2 beach chairs and watch the game from deep rightfield and don't get caught in the blah blah in the stands.
Dads: After the game, they only want to know 2 things: carls jr. or taco bell. If they want to talk about why they swung at the riseball in the 3rd they will talk to you..in the mean time..shush!!
