by minnabi2 » Wed Apr 20, 2016 10:53 am

Iv'e been hearing about Pam Newton based out of Rancho Cucamonga CA. Any opinions about her? I need a hitting coach for my daughter.

Don't know her but as always, compare anything anyone tells you about hitting to lots of slow motion of the best in the world. http://imageevent.com/siggy/hitting

If she teaches what she used to (5+ years ago), she teaches her students to "lift" the ball. Not every kid is '5-10" and hits bombs. For those who are, OK, may be that'll work, but didn't for my kid and for many others who had to "unlearn" that "lift" (aka: hole) in their swing. JMO.

That could be interpreted any number of ways. Should a big power hitter hit rising line drives at a slightly higher angle than a smaller hitter? Sure. Don't know what that has to do with a hole in the swing.

I'd love to have him but getting lessons with him is near impossible because of his reputation as a #1 coach.

I would recommend Pam Newton, she is a great coach, and really works with the girls well, my girls have been going for a while, no holes in their swing ;)

Sure the hole that's being referred to is on a rise ball or hard up pitch. The upper cut doesn't work there.
