10U Travel Teams

That's okay - they have 6U travel in Arkansas!

Apparently, hardcore travel ball in arkansas starts at the 6u. The local "big dog" travel team has been known to cut players at the 6u division (have a team in each division). As far as my granddaughters team is concerned they are just a bunch of local kids who enjoy playing (anything).

This was in a thread asking for the correct call where an obstructed runner was passed by the BR. To top it off, the game was being played at 11 PM with a possible IF game afterward.

OMG! 6u? Kids love everything :) But really parents? 6u? I guess my kids were late bloomers. Even at 10u I had a hard time getting one of my girls from picking daisy's in right field during the game. lol. If you had asked me if she would ever grow up to get a scholarship and later be a college coach I would have laughed in your face.

Well go ahead Arkansas! Wow!

Too late... Rec Ball has been obliterated... 14u is basically non-exestient, 12u is almost dead, 10u has taken a major hit and bleeding, 8u is ok for now...

Oh man, this saddens me.
I know I am sounding like the old dude sitting on the porch in his rocking chair, but staying in rec through at least 10's is better in the long run. For the girls, not the parents.
These are 9 and 10 year old girls, no need to get them up at 4am to drive to Hemet every weekend.
No need to have them in practices, cross fit, and lessons 4 nights a week.

Hold on a second...Dammit you kids, GET OFF MY LAWN!!

Ok where were we? Oh yeah, JMHO of course...
Deserve's got nothin' to do with it.

Too many game-breaks spent on a stool in Oggi's for you, mister. You gettin crotchety haha.
But seriously, couldn't agree more. As many old timers will tell you, the 10u circuit, staying in hotels with the team, playing for the fun of it, will turn out to be the highlight of most players time spent in this sport.
VETERANS....ALL GAVE SOME, SOME GAVE ALL
