12U SoCal Preseason Thoughts

by TheCloser » Fri Aug 21, 2009 7:02 am

I know tryouts are still in full force and will continue for the next few weeks but does anyone have any thoughts on the upcoming 12U softball season?

Who will be the Top 2nd year 12U team OCBB-Snow, CA-Lockman, or AA's 97?
Who will be the Top 1st year 12U team Victory-Campbell, Firecrackers-Brashear, or any other surprises from the rec world that are moving to travel that could surprise some folks? Is the Hart 10U team that won Western "B" Nationals becoming a travel team?

Did the AA 97 Team that was coached by Palamino disband? I know they had a coaching change before Nationals but is there only 1 AA 12U team now?

Looking at their website it has tryouts for the Ybarra team, which is 10U move up.

Batbusters Ray ,Valley Tribe & American Pastime should all be good teams. I heard Palomino is now BB-Ray????? I believe all 3 of thease teams have 5 or more returning players.

Half that team was 96's. I know they had 4 or 5 97's

It will be hard to look past the American Pastime !! Good athletes with good coaching. They should start pulling away from the pack this season.

I heard the same thing yesterday about OCBB Ray, also picked up another solid pitcher from AAs maybe. OCBB Ray surprised many of us when they stepped it up and came out with that occasional upset, so additing a few key players is going to maybe give them some consistency, they have good athletes and talent already and were playing really well the end of the season.

What about Minors Gold 97 and OC Wildcats 97, I thought they were both pretty solid as well..?

If you look at the roster for Batbusters Ray I don't think many of the AA Palamino girls are on BB Ray, maybe 1 or 2. Looking at the names the #1 pitcher from AA Palamino last year may be on that BB Ray.

Charlie what's the scoop?
