Its not a perfect game if the catcher throws the ball into left field . :o

Wow, technically it was not a perfect game because the article states that the runner advanced to third on a wild pitch (it doesn't call it a wild pitch but says Garcia threw the ball past the catcher). The catcher's error would not have ruined the perfect game otherwise...well, except for giving up the run.

Definitely the best no-hitter I've ever heard of.

From NCAA softball rules...

14.30.5 A pitcher is credited with a perfect game when she faces the minimum number of batters required for the number of innings played, none of whom reaches any base safely.
Note: The tiebreaker does not change this requirement.


Garcia faced the minimum number of batters (i.e. 24) required for the innings played (8) - the runner placed on 2B doesn't count as a batter. In fact, that run is supposed to be charged against the team, not her.
