Who are the top 14u teams in So Cal

by JustPlayTheGame » Sat Dec 13, 2014 6:08 pm

Best guesses at this time, by group, since not enough tournament or head-to-head play (groups by alpha order):

1. CA-Tyson (with pitcher), OCBB-Campbell, SCA-T/O

2. Artesia Punishers-Guererro, CA-Slye, Courage-Weaver, Firecrackers Brashear/Thornburg, OCBB-Steele (01), Power Surge-Bachtell, SCA-Mercado/Smith (01), Victory USA-Moore

3. CalCruisers-Orrantia, Irvine Sting-Knapp, Lakewood Firecrackers, Power Surge-Ruder, SCA-Tbone, SoCal Wicked, USA Athletics-Porter

Did you just copy from the AA's Toys for Tots tourney  ??

Lakewood FC, Cruisers and Sting have all had major changes to their rosters this year and maybe aren't done yet, so too early to put them on this list, IMHO. Victory USA looked strong at Toys - but had to face Campbell at semis. Didn't see the magic in SCA Tbone, OCBB Steele or SCA Mercado.

Every team mentioned has a few top players and can win on any given day. At the end of day you have to go with the teams that have the horses and the coaching. The top three have the best coaching and lions share of the talent. Pretty simple guys...

I will say most of the '01 (SCA MERCADO the exception) teams are pretty weak at this point. Very early but not as strong as the '00 group. A lot of catching up to do!

Pretty simple guys...

uh, er, um....., let me fix that for you:

The top three have the "big name" attached to their Team Names.

Please don't equate that with the term "best coaching"....or best game day manager of the game. There's a big difference. There are a lot of terrific coaches that get their players to play at a top level. However, the pitching depth is not the same. Herein lies the difference between the top tier teams and the rest

Let's be honest here...the reason for the "lions share" of talent is on their teams, is that they can pick and choose which of their organizations players play for them.....and that is why they are always rated near the top....and to that, they should be commended for recognizing talent, I agree.

Sounds like your team has been playing mostly 01' teams all fall? I disagree with that statement. The top 3 00' teams are very good. But they can be beat by these top 01 teams. I believe SCA - Mercado 01 beat Corona Angels 00' in Las Vegas in 12u. But beyond the top 3 00' teams. I don't see many 00' teams as good as SCA - Mercado 01, Corona Angels - Slye, OCBB- Steele and Firecrackers - Thornburg. All those teams can hang with the good 00' teams. OC Batbusters - Bracamonte, Firecrackers - Manny , OC United- Cochran/Johnson, Fircrackers- Vidal, OC Batbusters- Williams and Firecrackers - Hickman are all good 01 teams also and would fall somewhere into that 3rd tier of teams. IMO . But you are right, the 01' teams do have alot of catching up to do. In weight...

Couple of things... Hurricane well said your right in the coaching end and Big name stuff.

Juan the top three have rarely played 14's this year. It's recruiting time for 2018's and top 2019's. Those teams have played mostly 16's and 18's this fall. Outside of last weeks T4T's have you seen BB-Campbell's team? Outside of Brenda Marsh have you seen CA-Tyson. Both teams walked through the tournaments. SCA-TO have only showcased for the most part. When they have played the '01's they have thumped them!

It's ok there's a lot of softball left and in the end August is a loooonnnggg ways away. Question was who are the best in So Cal and they are the best. Only time will tell...
