How do teams handle tryouts?

by JustWondering » Wed Jul 15, 2009 12:26 pm

Do you have a 1 day tryout? Do you have a tryout a coupleof weekends in a row? Do you have personal workouts? What is most common?

everyone does their own thing...usa had lotsa conditioning, infield drills and then hitting...jets had conditioning, drills and a 2 hr scrimmage...everyone has their own routine for filtering talent...

I agree....No coaching and no conditioning at tryouts....What a waste of time.....

You do conditioning in case some girls forgot after shampooing, silly.
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

If he is talking about USA Athletics, not sure what he means "conditioning". We were there. They did warm ups. I wouldn't call it conditioning though.........

Hey, some people think walking from the parking lot to the field is conditioning. (warming up more than just a jog or throwing could really look like conditioning)

ok...conditioning was an overstatement...but there were a bunch of girls huffin and puffin out there during warmups...the summer break is for resting, but when your gettin up to 16s and 18s, you gotta use the summer break for getting stronger and in even better shape...anyway...live scrimmage after position drills really seperates...dd lost out to nothing but seniors playin gold...shes a soph...

Our tryouts were fast paced and draining. After infield and outfield drills (every girl did both), the pitchers than came in to pitch. Each batter only got 5 strikes and each pitcher only saw 5 or 6 batters.

Both of my dd's were tired after the second day of tryouts, but they loved it.
