Looking for instructor on the mental aspects of softball

by lunch _money » Mon Jun 08, 2009 8:52 am

Does anyone know a mental coach/psych that teaches softball players/teams on the focus aspect of the game? If so, could you give me the contact info.

Here is a link to a sports psych guy that has some great info. I have called him on the phone and he was very responsive. He is out of Boston.

Here is a local guy that is very renowned. Not sure if he does consults still or just teaches.

Lunch_Money, I don’t know of a person but here is a quality book on the mental side, and its softball specific. It’s called “Winning State-Softball”. I know of some colleges that hand this out to incoming freshman. I believe it’s about 15 dollars per book if you order 12 or more. Could be a good team investment!!

Google Ken Ravizza, he's about 350 a session. He has helped the olympic SB team, CS Fullerton baseball, and many more. Lives in Torrance area. At least read his book, Heads Up Baseball.

If you want someone to teach you the mental aspect, I would think Tony Rico is one of the best out there without a doubt.

Dunno if Rico is the best ("Oh Napoleon, how could anyone even know that?"), but dd gets a lot of great advice re the mental aspect of the game during her hitting lessons with him.

How quickly you forget "Louie and Anthony" Not only will you learn the mental side but also the ethical side

Ditto on the "Wiining State-Softball" (State, as in "frame of mind") If you've heard talk about the Big Dog in you and in sports, this is the series.....very good reading for the whole team. Sometimes we take a break from practice and let the girls relax and listen to a chapter (yes, they have it on their iPods!)

Tony Ricco is your man. Spends alot of time during his lessons dealing with mental aspects. He is down in Huntington Beach and IMHO the best.
To each their own.
