14U So Cal States, Injured player Saturday night

by sportzjunky » Sun Jun 07, 2009 9:49 pm

does anyone have an update on the kid who was hurt on field five or 6? A umpire explained to me that she dovefor a ball, missed, the ball somehow got under her and she/her chest rolled up on it. I also heard earlier today that she was still in Childrens Hospital down in LA? Please tell us she is OK and out.

Thanks for the bump.

I just spoke with Jay Creps and he said the injury actually happened at another field and he was unaware of the current status of the player. He was at work and needed to run, and I think I can call him this evening and see if he can help ID this. I recieved just enough info from the blue to be dangerous.

My confusion was how late the games were runnign at that end of the park. Nzane, I think your team was on field 5 until 11pm or so.

not sure if this is the same kid, but saturday at Tierra Bonita Park, a player dove and landed on the ball.
I think she was dizzy and having chest pains.
I think it was during the USA Athletics 95 vs Corona Eliminators 95 game, and I think the player was from the USA team.
I apologize if any of this info is incorrect, I am going by memory.

After the game, while we were starting our game, ambulances came.
Then a helicopter landed and airlifted her out of there.
We didn't hear anything about her condition after that.
Deserve's got nothin' to do with it.

This is EXACTLY what I am looking for. It makes sense now, I wrote down the park as Sierra Bonita when Jay mentioned a park. I couldnt find that anywhere and was looking when you posted. Thanks Art.

Maybe someone knows someone on this team? step up bucket!

Spoke to some parents from the team. Heard she had been airlifted to either County USC or Childrens Hospital in LA. She had been released on Sunday, and as of Tuesday she was home with a neck brace, albeit very sore.
