State is a great tournament, but you should be entering if you have no intentions of going on. You possibly take the place of another team that is trying to go. We knew the odds were against us, but our parents knew that if it happened we were off to IL!! I would not doubt that a few more spots to regionals will open!!!

Great tournament MG!

Great weather!

We are happy!!

We suck and failed to qualify, but would be very happy to take the place of any team that qualified but decided not to accept a berth.

I also have an observation. Any team playing in State knows one of two things to a certainty going in: either you will get a berth or you will not get a berth. Unless you mistakenly plan in advance to lose 2 and go home, there is no reason for any team to be "surprised" to get a berth and then be flummoxed by the immediate need to decide what to do with it. I know we had decided that if we got the offer we would go.
Well, you can do whatever you want to us, but we're not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America.

Thanks porcupine for a reasonable, well thought out post.

WE ARE GOING TO NATIONALS! WE ARE HAPPY TO HAVE EARNED A BERTH!

I was just making the point about a rule, that apparently not many people knew about. For my family it was a no-brianer - Let's go. It was a surprise to the team b/c even up to the last day, we were still focused on Westerns.

Lesson learned - keep all options open. Ya just never know what can happen.

I agree if you go to a state qualifier, you should plan on going to nationals if you qualify.
You also usually need to pay for the national tournament when you qualify at states, before you leave the state tournament, so you have to be prepared to write a check at that time.
Deserve's got nothin' to do with it.

Heard rumor of one team that qualified for regionals that will be going to Triple Crown. Looks like Raiders will be at regionals!

There most likely will be several teams that won't go to Regionals, freeing up spots for more teams. And I would bet that ASA offer berths to more than 2 teams from Regionals.
