should be interesting now that the big three have all beat each other at different tourneys this year. Congrats to So Cal A's going through both Steele and Thornburg last weekend. All three of these teams will be there in the end at PGF.

So Cal Top 12u Teams

Want to thank all the bucket heads and coaches who helped out with the second poll of 2014. It has been a fun season so far this year. The top three teams have all been playing well and have been winning all the big tournaments this year. Alot of the teams ranked 4-10 have played well against the top teams, but only OCBB- Bracamonte and Firecrackers - Manny have been able to beat one of those 3 in bracket play. Not much separating the teams ranked 10-25 in my opinion. There are ton of good 12u teams in So Cal. Many good teams not on this list. Good luck to all the So Cal teams for the rest of 2014. I wish your girls all a safe and hopefully injury free year.

1. OC Batbusters - Steele
http://www.teammizunosoftball.org/region/sc12u01e/home/
PGF Returning Berth :D

t- 1st Place TCS Red, White, and Blue
1st Place TCS Aprils Finest
1st Place Las Vegas St. Paddy's Day Blast
2nd Place ASA Brenda Marsh
1st Place TCS Monster Mash

This team has alot of talent and all the pieces to make a title run at PGF. They are very well coached. They have a very good pitching staff. 3 pitchers that can shut down the best hitting teams in the division. I believe most pitched at PGF last year for their teams. They are very good defensively, have very good speed and hit the ball very well. The coaches have done a great job with this team. They have not been together as long as the Athletics or Firecrackers, but you would not be able to tell. They are playing as good of softball as any team in the State. They have only lost twice in tournament bracket games this year! To the Athletics and Firecrackers. Two teams they have also beat in tournament play this year. If they are playing this good in August, they will be tough to beat at PGF.

2. So Cal Athletics - Mercado
http://brianpilon.wix.com/socalathletics01#!
https://www.facebook.com/pages/SoCal-At ... 0948810868
https://www.gamechanger.io/t/winter-201 ... 79e3000001
PGF Invite :D

1st Place So Cal A's MDC
2nd Place Las Vegas St. Paddy's Day Blast
1st Place So Cal Athletics Winter Classic
1st Place USA Athletics Toys for Tots

This team will be one of the favorites to win PGF this year. They have good chemistry, having been together longer than any team in the division. They have played in alot of big games. They are very well coached and play some very good defense. They have some good athletes and depth. They have some big hitters on this team and can play small ball when needed. Their pitching rotation is as good as any team in the division, after picking up two very good pitchers the last two seasons. They are playing some very good softball right now. They had probably the most impressive tournament win this year. Beating Batbusters -Steele and Firecrackers in back to back games in the So Cal A's MDC. They also have only two losses in 12u tournament bracket games. Losing to Batbusters - Steele and Firecrackers - Manny. The only team playing as good as this team right now is Batbusters - Steele. The Firecrackers are going to have a hard time repeating as National Champions with these two teams playing this good.

3. Firecrackers - Thornburg
http://www.eteamz.com/firecrackersthornburg/
https://www.facebook.com/firecrackers.thornburgw
https://www.gamechanger.io/t/winter-201 ... 11c27ba394
PGF Invite :D

1st Place TCS Colorado Sparkler Jrs.
2nd Place So Cal A's MDC
2nd Place TCS Aprils Finest
1st Place TCS (AZ) Lead Off Championshipg
1st Place TCS Presidents Day Showdown
1st place ASA Brenda Marsh
1st Place Firecrackers Turkey tournament

This team has all the tools to repeat as National Champions. Great chemistry with this group of coaches, girls. Alot of experience in big games. Great pitching and a deep rotation. They still are the best hitting team in 12u and they showed it at Brenda Marsh. The pickups in the fall added more speed and depth at the corners to this team. Although they came out swinging at the beginning of the Fall season, and have been playing very well in the Spring. They have shown that they can be beat. And that they may not repeat as National Champions They have 4 losses in Tournament bracket play. Losing to Athletics and Batbusters - Steele. And two out of state teams KBA 01 (NV) and Stingers Gold (TX). They have beaten Batbusters - Steele and did beat KBA 01 twice to win that tournament. They are not playing their best ball right now and have had injuries. But they have all the pieces to win PGF Nationals. If they can peak at the right time like they did in 10u. This team can repeat as National Champs.

4. So Cal Choppers - Black
https://www.facebook.com/SoCalChoppersBlack12u
PGF Invite :D
ASA Qualified :D

2nd Place So Cal ASA States
1st Place TCS Best of the West
1st Place TCS Pre Thanksgiving Cup

This team had a very good fall season winning two TCS tournaments. They have been together since spring of 10u , so they have good chemistry. They hit the crap out of the ball , and run the bases well . Their pitching and defense look good, and they have alot of pieces to make a run at PGF. They can beat any one of the teams ranked above them with their bats. But their pitching depth and defense needs to improve, if they are going to beat those 3 teams. Which they have not in tournament play. They have been playing well all year and are deserving of a PGF invite. I can see them placing in the top 10 at PGF. If, they can avoid being upset by a team ranked below them. They have 5 tournament bracket losses this year. To Batbusters - Bracamonte, Arizona Hotshots, Batbusters - Steele, and twice to Corona Angels - Slye. They will be a tough out at PGF and have the talent to upset one of the 3 teams ranked above them.

5. OC Batbusters - Stith
https://tm12u.shutterfly.com/
PGF Qualified :D

1st Place Wicked Valentine's Day Classic

They are well coached and have some very good athletes on this team. They have some big bats and 3 pitchers that are very good on this team. They play solid defense behind them, and they just know how to manufacture runs. I expect this team to be in the mix in August for a deep run at Nationals. As expected, they were the first So Cal team to qualify for PGF Nationals. They are another team that has the talent to upset any of the teams above them. They did not play their best ball at the So Cal A's MDC , but have been playing consistently well all year. I expect that this team will place in the top 10 at PGF. A spoiler team that none of the teams ranked above will want to draw early at PGF.

6. OC Batbusters - Bracamonte
http://www.teammizunosoftball.org/region/sc12u00b/home/
PGF Qualified :D

2nd Place TCS Colorado Sparkler Jrs.
t-3rd Place. ASA Brenda Marsh
1st Place. TCS OC Coastal Classic

This team has alot of talent. They are a new team, but many of the players played together in previous seasons. They are well coached and have played well against some very good teams this year. There are some good hitters on this team and alot of speed at the top of the lineup. They are aggressive on the bases, and are very solid defensively. They have some good pitchers that can hit their spots. But like many teams, their pitching is not as strong or deep like the top 3. But they get the job done. As expected, they qualified at the first qualifier in So Cal. They have the talent to place very high at PGF. Possibly higher than some one of the teams ranked above them.

7. OC Batbusters - Young
http://www.teammizunosoftball.org/region/sc14u99y/home/
https://teammizunoryoung.shutterfly.com/
https://www.gamechanger.io/t/spring-201 ... 18cf818b59
PGF Qualified :D

t-1st Place TCS Red, White, and Blue
1st Place Fresno. Force Classic

This is a very strong first year 12u team. They are very well coached, they have a good group of talented softball players. But more important, fearless players that are not intimated by the top 2001 teams. They have some very big bats on this team and very solid pitching staff. Many of the girls on this team were on the So Cal Athletics 2020 team that won 10u ASA Nationals. They have been playing some very good softball in the Spring. They were one of the first two teams to qualify for PGF, at the qualifier in So Cal. They went up North and won the Fresno Force Classic, beating up on the best 2001 teams NorCal has to offer. I would not want to draw this team at PGF. Many of the girls on this team have been on teams that have beaten the Athletics and Firecrackers teams in tournament play , in previous seasons. This team will be the top 12u team heading into next season. It will be interesting to see where they end up placing at PGF.

8. So Cal Choppers - Vidal
PGF Qualified :D

1st Place Artesia Punishers Christmas Tourney
T-3rd Place Las Vegas St. Paddy's Day Blast

This is a scrappy team. Well coached, and disciplined. They picked up some good players in the fall that has improved this team. They have a couple of very good pitchers and are solid defensively. They have some big hitters, and run the bases well. They played well in Las Vegas placing 3rd, and continue to play well against the teams ranked above them. They qualified for PGF in the first qualifier they entered in Arizona. When at their best, they have the talent to beat many of these teams ranked above them. I think they will finish among the top 15 at PGF.

9. Corona Angels - Slye
http://www.eteamz.com/coronaangels12utysonslye/
https://www.gamechanger.io/t/spring-201 ... 7941c173eb
PGF Returning Berth :D
ASA Qualified :D

1st Place So Cal ASA States
1st Place TCS So Cal State Championship

This team looks good. They have some very good players on this team. A mix of girls from the So Cal Athletics and Corona Angels 10u teams. They are well coached. They have some big bats and very good speed on this team. Good pitchers who can hit their spots. They also played well in Vegas, beating some good teams from NorCal. They looked impressive at ASA States, beating the Choppers - Black team twice to win the tournament. They should do very well at PGF. They are playing some good softball late in the season. And if they continue playing this way , they have the talent to possibly to upset one of the top 3 teams and place among the top 10 at PGF.

10. OC United - Johnson
https://m.facebook.com/OCUnitedCochran12u?_rdr
https://www.gamechanger.io/t/spring-201 ... 21dc000001
PGF Qualified :D

Solid team all around. This is a new team and they looked good in the fall. They have some athletes on this team. And a very good #1 on the mound and a couple of other good pitchers who can hit their spots. They have good team speed and play solid defense behind their pitching. They played very well at the NorCal PGF qualifier going undefeated. They are one of the most improved teams since the beginning of the year. They are playing some good softball right now. I am interested to see how far they can go at PGF Nationals. If they can pick up a key player or two they should do very well.

11. Bownet - Monzo
http://www.bownetyouthsports.org/page/s ... etti-2013-
https://www.facebook.com/bownet.black
PGF Qualified :D

1st Place TCS Fall Classic

This is the team that won the 10u ASA "B" title two years ago. They have been together for quite some time. They are well coached, and are a good hitting team. . They have some good players on this team. They have a good #1 pitcher, and are always solid defensively. They played well in the fall, played in some 14u tournaments but did not do as well. They qualified at the PGF qualifier in Arizona going undefeated. It will be interesting to see how far this team can go at PGF. They have some good softball players and when at their best, I feel that they are a better team than some of the teams ranked above them.

12. Firecrackers - Manny
https://www.gamechanger.io/t/spring-201 ... 357b64b71f
PGF Qualified :D

This is the old Minors Gold team. They are a solid team with good, sound fundamentals. Coach is doing a good job with these girls. Good pitchers who hit their spots with a very good defense. They have some good bats and run the bases well. They are a scrappy team that has shown before, that they are capable of pulling off a big upset at PGF. They did not qualify for PGF in their first 2 attempts, but I am sure that they will. They have been playing consistently well this whole season. And can compete with the best teams out there. I am interested to see where they end up placing at PGF.

13. So Cal Breakers - Montano
PGF Qualified :D

This is a good team. Very athletic. Good pitching and a solid defense behind them. They are much improved team from the beginning of the season. They surprised some, when they qualified in So Cal in their first attempt. Beating a couple of good teams. They are a good team that has alot of good pieces. But there will be alot of teams just as good at PGF. I do not think they will finish in the top 20. But they will compete, and should do well.

14. Firecrackers - Blanco
http://firecrackers2001.com/
https://www.gamechanger.io/t/fall-2013/ ... d0ed0004ae
PGF Qualified :D

This team is good. They have a very good #1 pitcher that can carry them very far. They have some good bats and speed. Defense is good. They did not qualify in their first two attempts. But I expect that they will qualify in their next attempt. If they get in, they can pull off the upset against one of the top teams with their pitcher. But I don't see them going deep into the tournament unless they add another pitcher. They have some talent on this team. Interested to see how this team fares at PGF.

15. So Cal 3D - Gold
http://12ugold.socal3dsoftball.com/
https://www.gamechanger.io/t/fall-2013/ ... c3c70008fc
PGF Qualified :D

This is a solid team all around. Good #1 pitcher that hits her spots. They are a good hitting team and run the bases well. They have good speed on the bases and are well coached. Not much seperating this team from most of the teams ranked above and below them. They played well, and qualified at the PGFqualifier in NorCal. They have been playing better as the season has progressed. They will compete, and should do well at PGF.

16. OCBB - Williams
http://ocbatbusters01.teamsnap.com/home
https://www.facebook.com/OCbatbusters01
https://www.gamechanger.io/t/spring-201 ... 49b6016cd3
PGF Qualified :D

This is a new team to the rankings. They have been playing very well in the Spring. Beating many of the teams ranked above them. They have a good lefty pitcher, and some good athletes on this team. This team looks like it is the old American Athletics team. They have picked up some good players, that have improved this team. They did not qualify for PGF in their first two attempts. But I think that they will eventually get in.

17. Team Nike - Betancur
http://www.eteamz.com/ABsoftball1/
PGF At Large Berth

I believe this is the old Team AB. They have a few big time hitters on this team. Their pitching is good and so is their defense. This team will beat you with their bats if you underestimate them. If they can pick up a strong pitcher and qualify for PGF. They will be one of those spoiler teams that you do not want to draw early at PGF. They have played well and have beaten some of the teams ranked in the top 10. Jekyll and Hyde team. When they are playing their best they can finish in the top 15. But they have not played as consistently well, as some of the teams ranked above.

18. Corona Angels 02 - Tyson
http://www.eteamz.com/coronaangels02/
PGF Qualified :D

Another new team to the rankings. This is a solid 02 team. This team finished among to top 5 teams at 10u ASA Nationals last year. Good pitching and defense for a young team. They have some good athletes on this team. They qualified in their 2nd attempt at the PGF qualifier in Arizona. Beating two good teams from Arizona. They have beenplaying well in the Spring and should do well at PGF. But I do not see them finishing among the top 25. They will be one of the top 5 teams heading into next year.

19. So Cal Athletics - Quarles
http://socalathletics12u.atomicleagues.com/
t-3rd Place ASA Brenda Marsh

This team looks like a completely different team than what they started with. Solid pitching and a good defense behind them. They have some big hitters on this team and some good athletes. They did not qualify in their first two attempts. But came close in their last attempt. I expect that they will eventually qualify for PGF Nationals and should do well. Interested to see where this team ends up placing at PGF.

20. Cal Cruisers - Martinez
https://www.gamechanger.io/t/spring-201 ... 0785b70511
1st place TCS March Mayhem

This team is also new to the rankings. I believe this is the old Strike Force - Martinez team. They have a good #1 pitcher on the mound. Fast, athletic and well coached team. They have some good hitters , and they run the bases well. They have really improved as the season has progressed. This team is just as good as many of the teams ranked above them. They should be fighting for one of the last berths to PGF Nationals.

21. Power Surge - Nava
http://www.eteamz.com/powersurge01/
1st Place TCS February Frost

Solid team all around. Well coached. They have a good lefty pitcher on this team, and are solid defensively. They have some athletic players and hit the ball well. They have not attempted to qualify for PGF , but are signed up for a couple of upcoming PGF qualifiers. I expect that they will also be fighting for one of the last berths to PGF. And should compete well , if they can get in.

22. So Cal Show - Haskell
http://www.eteamz.com/socalshowhaskell/ ... cat=910821
https://www.gamechanger.io/t/spring-201 ... c64a000001
ASA Qualified :D
1st Place TCS Big League Dreams

This team had a good season. They played well in the tournaments they have entered and looked good. They have some good pitching, and a pretty good defense behind them. A couple of big bats in the lineup and some good speed on the bases. They have not attempted to qualify for PGF, and are not signed up for upcoming qualifiers. It looks like they will be attempting to qualify for ASA Nationals instead. They should do well at ASA Nationals if they go that route.
Good luck with that weather.

23. Epoch - Facione

This team is also new to the rankings. They are a good team all around. Good pitching and a solid defense. Well coached team. They have some good hitters on this team and are very athletic. Very similar team tomany of the onecranked right above them. They did not qualify in their first two attempts. I think that they also will be fighting for one of the last berths to PGF.

24. OC Elite - Black
http://ocelitesoftball.com/roster/black-2/
https://www.gamechanger.io/t/spring-201 ... 076a000001
PGF At Large Berth

Another new team to the rankings. They have played well all season, against many of the teams ranked above. They are a solid team all around. Good pitching and defense. They did not qualify for PGF in their only attempt. I think that they will also be fighting for one of the last berths to PGF.

25. Cal Thunder - Brocki
http://www.eteamz.com/CalThunder12U/
https://gc.com/t/spring-2014/cal-thunde ... 4a4da6e62b

This team has some good pitching, some good bats, and a solid defense. They are a well coached team with good speed on the bases. They have been playing some good ball all year. They lost a big pitcher in the Spring, but they still have some good pitching on the mound. They have not attempted to qualify for PGF and it looks like they are not signed up for any upcoming qualifiers. I am not sure where this team will be playing for Nationals.

Nice job, JD. Thanks for taking the time to do this. This is the fun part of the year and your posts are well researched and are good reading! Pretty right-on in my book. Best of luck to all teams heading to PGF or ASA.

Congrats to the two Batbuster teams, Steele and Young on making it the championship at the TCS Red,White, and Blue tournament. It looks like OC Batbusters -Young and OC Batbusters-Steele went into ITB? The score posted was 2-2. Anybody know the final score?

Thanks for clearing that up g. The TCS website has the Young team listed as champions, but the score posted is 2-2. Sounds like it was a gpod pitchers duel. That is too bad they could not finish the game
