BREAKDOWN of 12U ASA STATE DRAW

by Under the Radar » Thu May 21, 2009 1:21 pm

games 73 , 74, 75 & 76 should all get berths leaving 4 berths from the loosers bracket. Looks like the winners of games 77, 78, 79 & 80 from the loosers bracket will get berths.

Yes that is correct. I didn't count the loser of the championship game Anyone playing in game 81 or later is qualifed for Nationals.

The 8 spots for regionals are going to be tough. 4 losers from 77-80 (tied for 13th) + 8 losers from 65 - 72 (tied for 17th) is 12. only 8 spots

1. :o
2. :?
3.

Winners bracket final 8

1. OC Wildcats 96/Corona Xpress (winner game 18)(loser does not qualify for Nationals)
2. Jynx
3. Firecrackers 96 (OC BB Marquez is a better team - lose to FC only b/c morning game)
4. OC Wildcats 97 (best pitcher in the their bracket)
5. Irving Sting/Thunder (winner game 26) (loser does not qualify for Nationals)
6. Cal Rebels
7. TNL/CA96-K (winner game 14)(loser does not qualify for Nationals)
8. PowerSurge 96

Winners Final 4

Jynx vs. Firecrackers96
Rebels vs. PS96
Firecrackers96 vs. PowerSurge 96 (Don't read too much into FC96 - Jynx just has harder road).
Note: I don't think Games 93 or 94 will be played.

ASA State Champs - PowerSurge 96

Teams that qualify for Nationals through Losers Bracket
1. Raiders 96
2. OC BB Marquez
3. Outlaws
4. BombSquad 96

So the most important games - do or die
1. TNL/CA96-K (Game 14)(loser does not qualify for Nationals)
2. OC Wildcats 96/Corona Xpress (Game 18)(loser does not qualify for Nationals)
3. Irving Sting/Thunder (winner game 26) (loser does not qualify for Nationals)

I take.

CA96
Xpress
Sting

So

TNL #20
OC Wildcats 96 #8
Cal Thunder #9
TeamSmith #10

do not qualify for ASA Nationals at State.

One of the better games this weekend was opening tound game Sting vs. Thunder, Sting winning 1-0 with a game ending bang-bang play to save it from at least a tie they also fought off a very underated Revenge 96 5-4 in the semis. The Revenge 96 vs CA Rebels game was the best game I saw all weekend, by far.

Somehow that OC Wildcats 96 team escaped Xpress early Saturday. They must have had 6+ erross in that game and then made a really good run from there on out. When I left Saturday night they were losing to Jynx in the semis who must have fell apart late in that game.
