Question on pin trading...

by fastpitchinfo » Thu Apr 09, 2009 8:32 am

My daughter's SoCal 14U team will possibly be attending Triple Crown World Series in Utah.
We will also be attending ASA State in the hopes of qualifying for ASA Nationals. My question is, out of these three tournaments, which ones do the girls trade pins at, and how many pins are a good amount per girl? Thanks!

I say between 40-50 would be a good amount but it depends on the girl because some girls are "too cool" at 14 and don't want to trade pins. I also noticed that the girls who didn't buy pins ended up regretting it later and wanted to buy pins off their teammates after the fact.
My 2 cents. :D

yes I agree TC and Nationals...Keep in mind cost per pin in my experience we paid for half and fundraised the remaining depends on parent support.. total pins 30 each :)

in all honesty look at the amount of teams that attended each event the prior year and you can bank on that many teams being there. We make sure the girls have atleast the same amount of pins as teams entered and then we give them an extra 10 or so for thier family and friends.

Don't show up at TCS World Series without pins. Everybody asking girls for pins will drive them insane.

I would say any where from 30-50 you are good. Remember... quality/size is better then qty. IE.. spend the extra money on a larger pin and reduce your qty, if needed.

I tottaly disagree my DD did TCS 10u 2 years ago & 12u last year. Bigger is nicer but the girls having more pins (50) per girl is more important. My DD was unbelievable at getting pins and the girls on the team that ran out were upset.

In Pin trading it's more important to have more not less and if that takes having a smaller pin go for it. Remember you can make a smaller pin that costs less look good :!:

Let me clarify... bigger is 2 inches or larger. Agree, you don't need to go the flip phone pin (Crunch) or elephant pin(AA) size, however, those were some of the most sought after pins. We try to have enough pins to trade with all teams in our age group.

If there are 50 teams playing in a tourney, you would need 49 to cover one of each.
Add to that, a couple for your own keepsake, so the math is easy.

We had a big 3: pin with lights at Western Nat's last year. They must have retailed at $6-8 each but we had a "pin sponsor" so the girls did not have to pay for them...
Being from NorCal, what do I know anyway???
