Wildcats 12u Coaches Rankings Updated July 2013

by OCwildcatMom » Fri Mar 29, 2013 9:59 am

*Note all ballots were cast by coaches*

Group A - The Favorite Top Contenders – Going to ASA Nationals or Premier to win it all. Have the ability to survive a hard bracket and still win it all.

Group B+ - The Bracket Dependent Contenders – Can win it all but it will take a bit of bracket luck. Not a Top Contender because they are susceptible to B+, B & C+ teams but they can beat an A team.

Group B - The Spoilers – Don’t have enough to win it all but can send an A or B+ team home or to the losers bracket. Playing on Sunday (ASA & PGF Nationals) and a solid top ten finish are the ultimate goal.

Group C+ - Very good teams that will need to play their A game to make it to Sunday (ASA & PGF Nationals). No C+ team has made the final eight at Nationals. These teams will cause some pain for a couple of B+ or B teams but not enough to make the final 4. Playing with the final 12 is the goal! C+ teams attending Western Nationals or TCS World Series are the favorites!

Group C - Very good teams that are a bit too hot and cold to be a C+ team (i.e., inconsistent). Playing on Saturday night is the main goal for these teams at ASA Nationals. Those attending Western Nationals will be labeled a top Contender!

So Cal Athletics are still way too low. They beat CA Tyson in Vegas finishing 5th, and won both TC tourneys they entered. They are definitely to 10-15, and no, my dd doesn't play for them.

We all know your kid plays for the A's :o But either way, they beat the number 9 ranked team twice to win one of their tourney, and beat CA Tyson in Vegas. The top 5 only really matter :!:

Rankings are definitely interesting. But they mean nothing definitively. Head on play matters but it is early in the season. So let's all keep our DD's working hard. July/August is the target (Huntington Beach for the confident and Chattanooga, TN for the less confident). The 5 top ranked at this point may, or may not be the top 5 ranked in late summer.

I heard there was a 8 or 9 team one day PGF qualifier in Arizona this weekend? Anyone know who was out there and who qualified? Any of Wildcat's top 15 out there? How did they do?
We were at the Firecracker-01 Friendly in La Habra, lots of great games and teams.

Interesting that everyone in SoCal just keeps up the torch for Premier like saying the top 5 teams will go to Premier and the others not so confident will go to ASA Nationals. I guess it is just how we are in SoCal. We are the best and no one else comes close. Funny how last year's Premier 12u Champs Firecrackers Quarles from SoCal finished 4th at ASA Nationals in Moline, Illinois. I assure you there are great teams all over this country that can beat anybody any time.

Anyone who follows softball should be aware of the shift towards parity in the college ranks and that's not because all the best teams stock their lineups with So Cali girls.
