by Dugout Dad » Wed Feb 04, 2009 9:44 am

What is the CIF SS date that softball travel ball teams have to stop competing, is it 2/15/09 or 2/22/09

According to the calender, Feb. 28th is the official first scrimmage, which makes Feb. 22nd your day.

Here is what I don't get. There are schools that have been playing during the fall. I know with this year round thing you can practice, but how is it that teams can play before the Feb. 28th date?

We were told Feb. 16th. High schools are now playing non-official games.

I keep hearing both dates, so that is why I'm asking the wise men and the elders of the bucket for advice and knowledge. :D

CIF SS Calender states Feb. 28th as first official scrimmage. That is when they are not longer to play anything official games with any other team. :)

I just got off the phone with the CIF Southern Section Softball Director. She stated that the official date that a player cannot compete with a second team is March 6, 2009. All games prior to that date are considered pre-pre season.

I've never seen a date that late before. Find that......surprising.

I think my question has brought on more questions than answers. I would be more inclined to trust what CIF says rather than ASA.
