10U ????

by lucky » Fri Aug 07, 2009 11:10 am

Time to put this thread to bed with a final socal ranking and look to the future…

1. Victory USA - Dominant showing at Nationals, running the table and outscoring their opponents 31-4 in bracket play. Team strengths are pitching, defense, and coaching. Victory is moving to 12U with Coach Campbell’s full attention. The future looks bright.

2. Franchise – Strong effort at Nationals, knocking out Cal Breeze, Crunch, and TPS. Just ran out of gas against Worth Cobras. Strengths are hitting and pitching. Franchise future is unknown at this point, no tryouts or plans announced…

3. Crunch – Tough breaks at Nationals, running into TPS early, illness weakening the whole team. Strong pitching, defense, coaching and timely hits describe the Crunch team. Is an organization change in the plans???

4. So Cal Dynasty – TShark’s “scrappy little team” surprised a few teams at Nationals. They were victims of some strange blue’s calls. Scrappy-ness and fight are their strengths, moving on to 12U.

5- tied. AA's – Went to Colorado Sparkler Tourney and beat-up second tier opponents, could this have detuned their focus for Nationals? Lost to Victory early, then spiraled to a premature exit… Always a dangerous hitting team. What does the future hold? Looks like a faction is splitting off to the OCBB organization…

5-tied. Desperados – Great showings at TCS World Series and ASA Western Nationals, a strong building point for moving on to 12U. 2010 Nationals berth is a great recruiting feature…

7. Aztecs – 2nd at Western Nationals a great showing for this team, momentum for the future, and again the 2010 berth is a great recruiting tool in moving to 12U.

8. Minors Gold – Where did they disappear to?? Always seemed to be on the verge of a big improvement, moving up to 12U.

9. Team Smith – 2nd place at TCS WS was a good showing, should have gone to Westerns. No plans announced for 12U..

10. Strike Force – No tournament play after states, re-stocking for the move on 12U.

Have fun at try-outs.... see y'all in 12U

Crunch, American Athletics, Victory and Franchise are all strong teams and should do well at states.

Hey - don't forget our little seabisquit in the north - Unity. Our girls had a phenominal season. Going to Nationals and tying for 5th was priceless. Congrats to Victory and all of the teams representing Cal! OK - enough there - got 12u tryouts for tomorrow. :D

I limited my comments to socal teams, but Cal Breeze and especially Unity had very strong showings at Nationals too. Unity displayed fight, skill and strong coaching, and look like a team that will continue to grow in 12U.

Hope your DD has a great tryout!

Spaz dippin in the cool aid as usual. No accusations. Top ASA reps are aware of the problems.
