USTSA WINTER TOURNAMENT IN TEMECULA

by SOFTBALL TAXI » Sun Dec 07, 2008 9:05 pm

THE FORMAT FOR THIS TOURNAMENT WAS ONE OF THE WORST I HAVE SEEN.
POOL PLAY WITH THE CHANCE OF BEING ELIMINATED BEFORE BRACKET PLAY. :?
(WE DID NOT GET ELIMINATED) :)
IT SEEMED THAT THE OTHER TEAMS HAD THE SAME OPINION

Bracket play was NOT well thought out. In getting a 5 game guarantee everyone except the winner got a consolation game (in most pools there were 1-3 teams didn't even get to participate in ANY bracket play & just got 2 consolation games, with many leaving cuz "why bother"). In travelball tournaments are a place to compete, take the girls to the next level, not to play consolation games (that's what friendlies (at a 1/4 of the price) are for).

I did notice that a team was added just a couple days prior. Don't know if that changed things - but the extra few hundred to screw up the bracket play and piss off 30+ teams does not seem worth it.

If they cannot run this like a proper tournament, teams aren't going to be paying that kind of money for a glorified friendly.

This tournament was hosted by California Blasters and Robert Melendez!

Strike Force had nothing to do with the Tournament Format or scheduling. They only procured the high school for additional fields and ran the snack bar. Were the hamburgers bad? ;)
