Gold Scores/Beaumont ?

by Stan the Caddy » Fri Feb 19, 2010 10:18 am

I know of at least one other team that picked up a player between the two classifiers and was told that she could not play with them in the second one because she played on a different team in the first one. (How's that for a sentence?)

Thing is....has anyone gone to ASA and said anything? Even if they do, they will probably just brush it under the carpet like they do with everything else.

OK, I don't post here very often but I've jumped in to give all those who can guess the story, the facts as I know them!!

Sunday, we had a great battle with the AA's. We chipped a few runs early and in the 4th inning, they hit, we got a little sloppy and the inning ended 4-3 - AA's. We tied it, and then it went to ITB. We couldn't convert and they did....final score 5-4 AA's.

Immediately after the game I was approached by a parent in the parking lot, who said that the AA's had played with an ineligible player. I explained that I didn't believe that could be the case and stored the conversation away for later disposal!

From Sunday to Wednesday I received no less than 12 calls and / or emails from other coaches, parents and concerned citizens reiterating that the AA's had played with an ineligible player, at this point, I called David Marin and confirmed the rules in this regard. I then confirmed that this player, had indeed played with a team that did not classify in the January tournament, and even though her old team was in the February tournament she was now playing with a new team had pitched a great game against us!

I put all these facts in writing to David Marin and asked So Cal ASA for a formal review of the situation. This was Wednesday evening, I have yet to receive any notification other than a confirmation of receipt of my email.

I would not be representing my team or organization to the best of my ability if I didn't follow up after so much heresay evidence, but I want it in this record that the AA's are a great team, we've had fantastic games against them and we hold them in the highest regard. This is not personal or vindictive, it's just what any coach would do in the same situation.

I'm sure you'll all know before I do, so I'll stop by and see what happens next!!

Later,

Freddy

Wow, a lot of castration going around

That is not a rumor. ASA forfeited the game to Power Surge for the A's using an ineligible player. Power Surge is now in and Gold.

For those that would ask what happened to the other teams who played the A's Power Surge was the only team to protest the use of the ineligible player so only that game was protested.

According to the So Cal ASA website, both Power Surge and the A's are listed as gold. I think it is inevitable that practically every team that participated in the gold classifiers will be allowed to qualify for gold nationals at Hemet this June. Otherwise stated, the gold classification tournaments will prove to be nothing more than a money maker for So Cal ASA!

You are right. The AA's are still listed. I guess a team must have dropped. Does anyone really think that ASA is going to do anything about this? They have NO spine!!!
