Looking for glove to buy

by cjs50 » Sun Sep 06, 2009 11:19 am

Does anyone know of a store that carries a good selection of gloves this time of year? I am having trouble finding a "middle of the road" glove, one that doesn't come with a bar of soap or cost $400. I really don't want to order online and without her trying it on to see if she likes it. Many of the stores told me ..come back in February..
Thanks for any suggestions..

Infield or outfield and age group. We have a couple next to new infield gloves and can hook you up with a great deal. Drop me a pm, in SCa too.

I'm going to suggest something completely different.. a $300 RETAIL glove that can usually be bought for about $130 -- last year's model of Wilson A2k. check out ebay. Here is one from recently: http://cgi.ebay.com/wilson-A2K-ASO-12in ... 286.c0.m14 Here's a 12.5" one -- http://cgi.ebay.com/WILSON-A2K-1799-GLO ... 286.c0.m14

I have purchased a lot of gloves for me and both daughters over the past three years. I've bought Akadema (expletive), Kelley, Rawlings Pro-Preferred, Rawlings Horween leather Heart of the Hide, Wilson A2000 Kip Leather, Wilson A3000 Barry Bonds model, and a couple more. The A2k is very well built, THE lightest high quality glove out there, and breaks in VERY fast. It's not worth $300 or $200, but my last two (12" basket web with DFS strap tightener, 12.5" trapeze web) purchased in the past year were $115 and $135. When DD was playing 12U baseball, we had a 11.5" A2k infielders glove that cost $160 also on ebay.

Wilson A2k won't last as long as, for example, Nokona or A2000, but for $120 who cares if it only goes two seasons? You cannot drop a ball out of that glove... if you try, the glove will throw itself off your hand, grab the ball, and hop back onto your hand... it's magical :)

Has she tried a "Buckaroo"? Leather palm, Kangaroo outside. Lighter, breaks in pretty quick and pretty light. Definitely somewhat less durable, but still lasted pretty well. DD LOVED it.
I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on the frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond words.
