Ok had this happen in the local league(REC) PU called foul tip runner on 1st took 2nd and was allowed to stay as the umps said a foul tip is a live ball.I always thought a foul tip was a dead ball. So could someone let me know the rule on this in ASA, I found it in NSA but we use ASA rules in the league and I dont have a rule book to look at and ASA doesnt have on oneline I can peek at.

Foul tip is a live ball strike. ASA 7.4.E
Section 4. A STRIKE IS CALLED BY THE UMPIRE.

E. For each foul tip.
EFFECT: (Fast Pitch/Slow pitch with stealing) The ball is live and runners may
advance with liability to be put out. The batter is out if it is the third strike.
1. (Slow Pitch without stealing) The ball is dead and the batter is out if it
is the third strike.
2. (16-Inch Slow Pitch) The ball remains live; runners cannot advance.

Just think of a foul tip as being the same thing as a strike. Essentially, for the purpose of the players, it is.

Catcher catches the ball - Foul tip - Live ball.

Catcher misses the ball - Foul ball - Dead ball.
Ice cream?! When the f**k did we get ice cream?!

Rabbit I agree with you. I hope every one else is assuming the foul tip was caught by the catcher. If not the ball is a foul ball!
