Donnie wrote:Last season I had a girl from the opposing team think that the umpire said strike three and he actually said ball four. She then went into the dugout and took her helmet off before one of her coaches told her to get out to first base. I called time and went to talk to the first base ump, he told me he didnt see a thing so I then asked all the umpires to come together to get the call right and all 4 said they didnt see her enter the dugout. Even though I was yelling the second she went in. This runner proceeded to score the tying run in a district championship semi-final game that we lost the same inning. Without that mistake by the umps we win that game. Beat that one

Come on donne, that is weak sauce. Thats almost as bad as "cant win a USSSA game because they wont advance my runner.." Its not as bad because is it as least district level play, but its up there.

You HAVE to be able to do better than that, all your ejections etc? Your own personal ejection rock you sit on and stuff like that.. and thats the best you got?

That call aint why you lost the game.

May not be why we lost the game but it sure contributed as to why they won the game. As for my ejections none really stand out more than the other. Although I did find out that kicking dirt will get you tossed even after the final out has been recorded.

hmm well ok then. I guess thats the best you got then. THanks!

I guess another way to look at it is: The only way you could have won it is if someone you walk goes in the dugout instead of to 1B.

That must be a hoot to practice.

Maybe the umpires are on to your little tricks and now dont see so good.

Rule 6: Pitching Rule
Sec. 1. A legal pitch shall conform to the following:
K. Once the ball has been returned to the pitcher, the pitcher has 20 seconds
to release the next pitch, “after the umpire says play”.
Effect Sec. 1. A - K
An illegal pitch is called immediately. It is a delayed dead ball and
should be signaled by the umpire calling the illegal pitch and verbalized
so a player could hear the call. The pitch is declared a ball and
base runners are awarded one base without liability to be put out if the
ball is not hit. If the pitch is hit then the coach will have the option of
taking the results of the play or accepting the penalty.

I'm just a DA Coach, not a Blue ... and don't have a U-trip book here ... but are you sure you are not in the Slow-Pitch rule book ?

I doubt it since U-trip SP does not call IPs until after the pitch is complete.

Here is the link to the 2009 Fastpitch rule book.

http://www.usssa.com/usssa/usssa-genera ... PRules.pdf

And no, it is not a recent rule change.
It was the same rule for NFHS (High School), but they just changed the rule to a "ball on the batter" only.

Wow I was right, and it is still in the 2009 rule book too...They may not mean it that way, but thats what it says...thank you very much...

That still shouldn't have cost us the game, many other factors, but it is much easier to blame it on a blue, than to say we made bad coaching decisions or we were simply outplayed that day...
