new bat choice

What's on your mind?

by superD3 » Wed Mar 05, 2008 2:30 pm

My DD 12yo 5'4" 120lbs, played travel ball last year, allstars before that, above average hitter looking for a new bat, have used RT and TPS 30", what do ya'll suggest (size, brand), will only be playing rec this year.

Thanks

I don't know where your are from so I can only respond with what I would do here. "Rec" ball here is very low level. So I would get your DD a cheap Walmart type bat. Not because of your DD's skill level but because of what the other girls in the dugout will do to her bat. My DD had one Stealth broken by rec girls standing on it. I lost count the number of times I told the girls to stop standing, jumping, etc on their's and their teammates equipment. They will take a Rocketech and hit posts, rock, and who knows what else with it. This is just my experience and your mileage may vary.

I got my DD a fairly inexpensive Miken Maniac on ebay for 60 bucks brand new. She has tried other bats but loves the miken the best.

if she is going to stay in "rec ball", then any bat will do...if she plans on making the jump back to travelball, why not let her rip up the comp in the meantime... dd is 5'4" 130 and swings a 32" drop 8 ...she loves it...but still keeps a drop 9 synergy and drop 10 stealth in her bag too...
