And the game winning home run was by a player from Southern California, playing for a university in oklahoma.

How do we get Lynn Swann to get a softball program at USC and keep all of these talented ladies home in Southern California.

Yes. I went to college about an hours drive from where I grew up.

Student athletes are commodities, there is no denying that fact. Look at how nike advertises all over Oregon's softball team and how the school uses those girls to bring the school more money. But not 1 single player on Oregon's roster was from Oregon, not a one.
California spends a ton of tax dollars on parks and fields and lights for those fields. California property taxes pay for the prep teams facilities that many of these club programs use as well.

So why should other states, who have spent 0 on the development of their own local talent, be permitted to come to California and steal our girls because theirs aren't good enough to compete?

A schools athletic teams should be representive of the schools student body. So if 90% of Oregon's students are from Oregon than 90% of Oregon's student athletes on scholarship should be from Oregon, same with oklahoma, florida, auburn, alabama.... call it title ix-a

Sorry, posting on phone from work while being interrupted.

California tax dollars are what is used to develop these young ladies as softball players. Other state's schools should not be permitted to come in to California and pillage the talent California has developed without paying California back for its investment.
At the very least the athletic scholarships should use real math.... if an out of state student has tuition costs 3x higher than an in state student, than an out of state student athlete's scholarship should count as 3 scholarships vs the sports scholarship allotment

Under your logic-would it not be better(tax dollar wise) for college athletes to all play out of state. Since all state school students are subsidized and scholarship athletes even more so? Should not the taxpayers of Oregon be the one's annoyed since their tax dollars are going to out of state players. Also, if your DD is playing a tournament in another town's park, are those taxpayers not paying for your daughters development. My advice, put down the bottle and/or pipe and step away from the keyboard!
