Pitcher takes line drives off of shin. Please share with me your experiences with this; from injury to full recovery.

It really fu*kin hurts. A good one will leave stitch marks. Then it will bruise. Ice it after the game.

That is all!

Depends which leg. My daughter was hit by a pitch when she was 13. Turns out it was a deep bruise on her push off leg and she was out for over a month. I know that is a bit different, but deep bruises can get worse if not rested properly.

Hey coach Tom! Eddie Z. here :) Just to be safe, I recommend having it checked out by a doc to make sure it's nothing more than a bruise. My DD had a pretty bad sprain last year crashing into the other team's 3B after hitting a triple. Thought it was just a bruise until test revealed a Grade 3 sprain. Out for 10 weeks.

Definitely doing that. And we've iced and heated about 10 times since Sunday. I'm keeping her off of it and her foot elevated. Doing all we know to accommodate recovery.

So far it looks like we dodged a bullet. Doc gave her a week off from sports. We will keep icing heating and elevating. And then back to the grind.

Glad to hear that! Rather her take a few days off then come back 100% rather than spend weeks not getting better. Do some upper body drills in the mean time. If you need to borrow a pitcher, let me know :)

Well it's been nearly 2 weeks and she's still dealing with more pain than we like so we took her to Hayes Sports Chiropractic in Lakewood. Now, instead of just waiting and icing they have added a couple of treatments. She's getting Electrical stem, deep tissue massage, special exercises to do and an ice bath for her leg. Also some specific instructions that she should not run until she can jog with little pain and no pitching until the bruise has healed. Basically she won't be striding until after she can run pain free.

Dang sorry to hear that. Hopefully everything turns out well, just in time for summer!

Thanks Eddie. After the third treatment she was doing so much better. We let her play Saturday. But we will follow up with a couple more treatments and continue to ice at home.
