Transparency would be a very good start.

Thank you, Sue Enquist for standing up for what is right. I think the transparency would help to encourage the NCAA to make the needed rule changes sooner.

I didn't even know that colleges were "committing/verballing" one scholarship to multiple players. That's something that needs to be transparent for sure.

D1s can have 12 scholarships...lets say a team has 15+ returning players...and www.goldfastpitch shows a team taking a ton of recruits...
simple math will tell ya somethings up.

Not necessarily. I know kids with big academic scholarships starting at Big State U with a very tiny athletic scholarship. I know other starters with a full need based ride. Others just want to go to ABC Univ and are happy to get a tiny athletic scholly or none and pinch run at their favorite school. Carry a certain hs gpa at another and they can get you a 1/3 academic scholly to go along with a 1/3 athletic scholly so you can't do the math as easy as all that.

Now if they have 4 returning pitchers and 4 "committed" you can do the math on that pretty quick.

VERY few folks qualify for 'need based' which means Pell Grants..And I dont imagine those kids would be in the travel ball recruiting limelight.
True enough some kids are happy with 'whatever'
But keep in mind academic money can be counted (in the pot) as athletic money on the 'pay out chart' if its being combined with athletic moolah

Most people qualify for need based aid. Need defined as anything beyond EFC.

EFC?
You mean Pell grants?
As emancipated or under parents?

I mean you fill out the FAFSA which gives you your EFC and anything beyond that is defined as "need" which can be addressed in a number of ways. Some schools commit to covering a 100 percent of need whether the kid is an athlete or not.
