I always find it hilarious when a poster minimizes player rankings. It's not the most important thing but it for sure is meaningful to many.
I think if you follow closely those players on the lists they usually do better than others in college. I'd go as far to say the top 20 players end up triving in the college field. Of course, there are always late bloomers by that doesn't mean the rankings are not pretty damn close...
Like I've said many times about this subject. Our society ranks everything and we tabulate how many whatever's on just about everything. Ex: Yelp, "likes", "followers", college football, most awarded cars, etc! Encourage your DD to work her butt off and get her name out there to earn a spot on the list.
Can go all day on this issue...
