Yes, it is in Montgomery, AL. It's a great showcase, and I don't have a problem with a tournament booking group rates for teams, but I do have a big problem when those rates are over the maximum rack rates.

Yes it is a very good tournament just be careful where you stay!
Montgomery is a ROUGH town in the wrong parts...

It will change when coaches choose tournaments that don't require this option. I'm betting this started as a way of saving money. Charge parents less and get a cut from the Hotel, now it's about making money off everyone.

Yeah it really makes it hard on the parents who need to stay with family, etc... I mean when you stack up equipment, gas, dues, lessons, etc... now you're making a portion of my team stay at a hotel that is probably already booked... But I will say that certain tourneys will add them to the "list" if you find one that is not on the list.

All I can say is be creative with the rules of the tourney. Certain teams will play no matter where their players stay, and rules are meant to be bent!
