Top 2 teams at ASA Western Nationals get berths to ASA Nationals the following season. TC is like paying $700 to play a SoCal friendly in Park City. The area is beautiful, the fields for 12U are, on a whole, horrendous.
If your team is serious about being competitive in ASA, play ASA. If your families want a vacation after the season is over, go to TC.

good advice Sam.
ice, you describe our situation last year.
1st year 12 team, only two kids with travel experience. We did better than we expected as the season went on. In January of 07, we were thrilled when we got our triple crown berth, and thought that was our destination. Then we did well at socal states, and got a regional berth. We realized we would be selling ourselves short by not trying to get an ASA berth. We also decided to go to Western Nationals if we didn't get an ASA berth because of the berths they give to the two top teams there for the following year.
We got the ASA berth at regionals, went to nationals and came in 17th.
Great experience for everyone, and I was proud of how we competed with the top teams.
I have never been to triple crown, but I hear it's beautiful there and alot of fun for the girls.
Good luck in whatever decision you make.
