Is Early Recruiting Right or Wrong? Kidz "n" Sports

What's on your mind?

Thank you very much RBI - you're a reliable source of info.

Having a verbal offer pulled after a month is unfortunate, however that seems far easier to recover from than the ones I saw lost after 1-2 years with only 2-5 months before the NLI date. Fortunately, they ended up playing at other D1 schools, although I don't know whether the deals were as good.

A common reason given for decommits is "grades" - indicating they won't get through admissions. I suspect a portion of those are because the coach lost interest in them and chose not to lobby on their behalf. Any insights on this?

To expand on your COMMUNICATE advice, I recommend DD's develop/maintain their relationship with the staff and trust their instincts if they sense a change in attitude towards them.

If you could poll the athletes' parents who have either actually played at the collegiate level or attended college themselves.....against parents who did neither, I bet the responses would be totally different. Sometimes it just seems it is more of a sense of PRIDE for the parent than for the kid. Conversely, I knew were I wanted to play and attend college as a student athlete by my Freshman year in HS, so if that is the kid's dream, let them chase it. THE KID"S DREAM!

Just isn't possible ... You mean you used your brain at that age? You planned and set out and hoped to accomplish your Goals/Dream?

My point is that is allowed and should be encouraged. Even if it means you don't make it! Not everyone gets a lollipop and that's ok...

How did you determine your dream school in 9th grade? Was it the pretty uniforms or they won when you saw them on tv?
