Given the lack of standard defined terms in softball and baseball swinging linear and rotational can mean different things. I suggest two things. Compare anything anyone tells you about hitting to lots of slow motion video of the best in the world. My kid studied Epstein rotational hitting, she went from hitting 4 hrs(freshman) to 16hrs(sophomore) during varsity ball
