Try outs went so well that we may put together two teams I just have to make sure the college coaches don't over work and injure my players

Hey I get being competitive. I like to win too. But in the numerous guests I've had on my show, along with chiropractors, coaches, doctors, etc. etc. etc... they will all tell you that the body needs rest. Young bodies need MORE rest because they are developing.
I think it's pretty selfish of some coaches because you push the girls to do their absolute best, they give it all they have, and whatever the result, now they are expected to turn around and start all over. Then when they are feeling a little burnout, fatigued, drained, or whatever, someone tells them that there's another player waiting to take their spot.
I've just started my Masters degree studies on Coaching Education. And guess what one of the topics we will be studying is? That's right, burnout.
Last point. You mentioned the travel ball schedule, but I've also heard that the big reason here in so cal that we are now getting these overuse injuries is because ON TOP OF THE TRAVEL they are now back at their high schools and those coaches (sometimes the same travel coaches) are pushing them to do the fall scrimmage leagues.
Are you coaching for the girls or for your ego? Give young athletes (boys or girls, any sport) a rest. You'll end up with a healthier and more energetic player when the time counts.
Coach Mike.
