16 years. Anyone remember Fastpitch Forum?

I think the key was the ready internet availability of so much video of elite hitters. The absurdities that used to pass for hitting wisdom began to be exposed as incorrect even by newbie dads. Then Don Slaught got Enquist and Candrea on video saying the MLB swing was the fastpitch swing thereby validating the conclusion the message boards had already decided. Not that Don's understanding was the best around but it was a huge step forward for the sport.

I haven't studied Foothills' thoughts but I generally agree with the comments above. Of those I have studied in depth, there are two of whom I haven't been able to point to something wrong by comparing what they teach to video of elite hitters.

Got to be Steve Englishbey and Domingo Ayala.

OK, maybe not Domingo. I'll guess the second one is Paul Nyman? I'm guessing since I'm more familiar with his reputation that his actual material.

I'm happy to see another good hitting discussion come up (actually there are several interesting ones active). I found this site while I was actively trying to sort through the disparities I saw between how people were telling me I should coach a swing, and what I observed good hitters doing. At that time, SSarge and Gonein2.6 were extremely helpful in separating the wheat from the chaff in my mind. There's no doubt parents/coaches continually coming to this site with similar questions.

For those reading this that are trying to sort through these questions - Mark's analysis of the hitter on the banner contains a ton of clues. The best place to follow up on them, IMHO, would be at Steve's site.

You have certainly done your homework. Where can I read about Ayala?

Definitely. If only we had gotten this video a while back - even 8 years ago.
