Hi Heybucket family,
A friend of mine has a daughter who is playing softball at a local junior college.
This is her first year there and she wants to transfer to a 4 year college.
Her mother ask me if I could help them. However is been over 8 years since my
daughter graduated from high school and she went straight to a 4 year university.
When I asked the player if she went to her counselor for information, she gave me the pamphlets her the counselor gave her. (wth?) I'm pretty sure she needed more guidance than that. To be fair she's very respectful of adults and never questions them. She might not have spoke up when she realized that pamphlets were not what she needed.
The pamphlets were just basic information on different schools. It did not contain what a
what a student athlete would need to be eligible to transfer there and play. Which
is why she went to the counselor.
I remember hearing something about, the rules changing, Something like you have to get your AA first if you want to transfer to a D1 maybe even a D2?
Can someone tell me where I can tell this family to find this information themselves so they can make an informed decision? Even better, tell me the exact, link where it's stated?
I don't want to be responsible for giving them the wrong information. But I do want to help them find the resources they need to find out everything they want to know. So any help would be appreciated! I know this board has some pretty smart people on it and a lot of you have kept up with all the rule changes concerning NCAA. Can you help?
Michelle
