Gold policy is official

What's on your mind?

by OCHAWKS » Wed Nov 05, 2008 2:17 pm

Currently I have one junior and five sophomores on the team, so going 18s this summer makes sense. The younger ones I think aren't ready I'll refer to other 16U teams. We'll try to qualify for Gold in our 2nd year. We staying 18A under this new plan.

Many 14's play as well as the 16's. 2nd year 14's are very close to 1st year 16's.

Demonboy: Triple Crown has 18 Gold, 18A and 18B categories for their big Sparkler event and World Series.

Intel: my DD has to move up to 18s, plus I have 5 girls who will be juniors for 2009-10. If I don't move up I won't see my daughter play. It's the Catch 22 of having a travel team with your DD on it. Otherwise I would stay 16s.

OCHawks, I understand your situation as I have seen it to many times, Coach's DD has to move early because of other players aging out in a division. This is why I glad our club has gone to non-parent coach's. It keeps the daddy ball out and allows for objective selection of players.

Good luck

Intel:

Thanks. Been coaching 14 years, 4 in travel. Plan to keep going after 2nd DD leaves (oldest was gone 2 years ago). This is a great sport. May seem odd, but I'll be glad when I don't have a DD on the team. It's been great father/DD time, but life will be easier. You know what I mean.

Is this a fairly new development? I guess I just don't pay attention to Triple Crown. My mistake.

I thought something was funny. Just looked up the results from last year's Triple Crown. They only had 18A and 18B. Their alleged "Gold" division appears to be brand new.

I find this funny on many levels
