Wilson A800?

What's on your mind?

by Els489 » Wed Apr 18, 2018 10:12 am

My daughter has what I believe may be a Wilson A800 baseball glove. She plays 14U infield and the coach said the glove (11.5") is too small. She doesn't seem to have any issues.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

11.5 is standard size for high level IF player, except of course 1B.

I think it's technically a baseball model. Is there really a difference?

What about in terms of the pocket, handling a baseball vs softball?

You can heat the glove , I normally hold over a boiling pot of water, rotating the glove every minute to heat it evenly. Then take a softball and pound the pocket you can make the pocket bigger that way.

Can do this with or without Steam.
Then treat it with glove oil / mineral oil, it will be fine & Pound pocket more...
plenty of videos online.
continue leaving a softball in the pocket and wrap it with the seams evenly bound. will create a pocket best way to store the glove. instead of it laying flat in an equipment bag.

Just because a glove says it is 11.5" does not necessarily mean it measures 11.5" ... Measure the glove yourself, the coach may be correct. In addition, some makes and models (whether claiming to be fastpitch or baseball) have smaller pockets than others ... I am not familiar with how the Wilson A800 measures (if it is an A800).
