Cleveland, OH (March 12, 2018) – General Manager Stephen Dunn announced today the signing of Charlotte Morgan as the new head coach of the Cleveland Comets. Morgan served as head coach for the Racers during the 2017 season and led the team to a 26-24 record.

Morgan, a previous All-NPF player herself was taken number one overall in the 2010 NPF Draft by the USSSA Pride. During her four-year professional career Morgan was a dominant hitter, both in power an average. She enjoyed the best season of her career in 2013 with a .302 batting average, 7 homeruns, 31 RBI, .425 on-base-percentage and a .508 slugging percentage
In addition to her playing career, Morgan is in her sixth season as an assistant coach at the collegiate level. Though Morgan was more known as a first baseman in the NPF, she was a pitcher and utility player throughout her collegiate playing career at the University of Alabama. Morgan has taken that experience to become an elite pitching coach in the collegiate game, with schools such as Maryland, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma State and now currently at the University of Texas at Arlington.
In her first season at Oklahoma State, Morgan helped guide the Cowgirls back to the postseason for the first time since 2011 and developed a pitching staff led by Kacy Freeze, who finished with 19 wins and four saves in 2016. Prior to Oklahoma State, Morgan improved the Georgia Tech pitching staff, helping the squad lower their ERA by more than a full run in her first season with the Yellow Jackets.
Playing at Alabama, Morgan was the two-time SEC Player of the Year, the 2010 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award winner, a three-time NFCA All-American, and a two-time USA Softball Player of the Year Top 10 Finalist. Morgan became first overall selection in the 2010 NPF Draft from the Crimson Tide by the USSSA Pride.
Growing up in Moreno Valley, California, Morgan began playing softball at the age of nine. At Moreno Valley High School, she was a two-sport athlete, competing in both softball and basketball. After attending her final year of high school at Valley View High School, Morgan graduated Magna Cum Laude. By graduation, she had accumulated numerous awards and honors, including league Rookie of the Year in 2003, Valley View Female Athlete of the Year in 2006, and Moreno Valley High School Scholar-Athlete. Additionally, Morgan was recognized as a three-time first team All-League honoree, second team All-League honoree, and first team All-County honoree, as well as league MVP in 2003 and Valley View High School MVP in 2006.
