Why don't they show the players weight?

What's on your mind?

by Schmick » Sat Mar 10, 2018 2:22 am

Having a son who has played all the way through college baseball and now raising a girl playing softball it seems that there are several things with softball that are wrong or just plain sexist.

First of all, when you watch the College World Series every player on the team has their height and weight in the program and then it's under their name on TV their first at bat or inning pitched. How sexist is it that the softball players do not do the same?

Also, many of these softball players are at the same weight as many of the baseball players so why are softball players permitted to swing bats that can be 13 ounces lighter than they are inches long? Baseball is limited to a drop 3 at age 14. And why are the softball fences so close? LL baseball plays on deeper fences than we saw at Mary Nutter a couple weeks ago

.
How bout moving the fences back to 275 feet and the bases to 75 feet and making the lightest bats a drop 5? Then, list the weight of the players the way baseball does.

shocking revelation that the sport of softball is not the same as baseball.
I,d like to ask, how does showing the weight of a player help you?

there are so many reasons why the field dimensions are different you just need to start educating yourself!
Things like 70 mph pitch in sb is equivalent to a 90 mph pitch in
baseball. Softball weighs 7 ounces and is
3 inches larger in diameter. Baseball weighs 5 ounces. Things like in sb Runners can't leave the base until the ball leaves the pitcher's hand.
Did you know little boys baseball play on a smaller field, & little girls softball play on the same size field as college? Speed of the game in softball is much faster. A lot more action on the field. Pitchers don't throw back pics at the bases and catchers have a much greater role controlling the ball and controlling Runners on the bases with pickoffs and back pics.

And yeah ... I'd like to know why men have to leave the toilet seat down instead of women leaving it up ... That's just plain sexist.

Not impressive seeing 180 pound woman hit a ball over a 210 foot fence with a drop 10 bat.
My son was doing that at 10 when he was 70 pounds

Trolling or just clueless?
I can hit a baseball, golf ball and super ball with a drop whatever further than a softball too.
