This thread is like reading a script for the remake of 12 angry men, with Sam as the sole dissident, very interesting stuff :D

So I am an old jock not great but played through HS and then a little fastpich and then a good amount of slopitch at a decent level until 36....I say that for a reason now at 51 I have a bad knee shoulder and have had a back surgery a good portion of it from wear and tear.

I dont want a kid having to quit at 20 but what are we talking about here. I mean I pretty much agree the body wasnt meant to play 3 sports throw yourself around have impact on everyplay.....So even for these girls wear and tear to some point is for lack of a better term part of the game. So where does it become to much...how much is acceptable....and different bodies different genes...different results. The one size fits all isnt fair to those in the above 50 precent ....And to be honest I hurt some everyday but I wouldnt trade for the fun and experience and it was just that cause I didnt get a ride anywhere. Had to pay out of pocket. Sam is right to question but wrong to enforce his will on others.....in unless he has several statistical based studies...then I am with him. I grab my lance and head toward that windmill cause thats what I do until then hes just another well meaning guy...love his effort but thats it

BTW..I didnt see anywhere did this young lady ever get a ride anywhere?

Ratz,

There have been studies/reports:

There is a lot of information out there.

Mike wants to hold the parents accountable, but nobody know how that would ever happen. The softball organizations could prevent travel teams from playing during an off season (8U-16U) from August 15th through the end of the calendar year by not sanctioning teams and not providing them with insurance. If they don't wish to do that, they can establish maximum pitch counts. The first study I referenced has pitch counts for different age brackets.
