Best infield glove ?

What's on your mind?

by CheckWriter » Thu Dec 29, 2016 9:01 pm

DD1 was a Nokona girl. The Buckaroos are a nice compromise. Regular leather inside, kangaroo outside. Lighter, broke in faster but still lasted a good long time.

DD2 all Rawlings - so is DW.

DW LOVED to go bat & glove shopping with the girls. Sometimes they liked the $50 gloves better, sometimes the $170 glove. We still have lots in the garage that never did get broken in (DW couldn't control herself because hand sizes were all the same) and youngest DD is in 2nd year of grad school.

To make a long story endless ...
Try 'em all!!!
I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on the frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond words.

Thank you posters! Just to be sure...your DD's did buy BASEBALL gloves when playing the hot corner? The baseball gloves seem much more expensive than the softball gloves. There's no adjustable strap on the Baseball gloves, either.

Mines a catcher primarily but she has played 3rd. We never bought a baseball glove, used Nokona, Mizuno almost exclusively...Mizuno primarily due to team affiliation is main reason...

I posted this 6 years ago. Don't see a need to alter it....

Ok, this is NOT intended to be sarcastic, really. The best glove is the one that works best. Accepting opinions on a softball board is like having someone from a far away zip code select your underwear.

Try gloves borrowed from players that DD knows or associates with. Just field 10 balls. Try it. What counts is what works. If you insist on the "go to the store" routine, have DD pick out 6 gloves that feel "good", whatever that means. Have her check for weight, size, hand feel, etc. None of the gloves will be broken in. Then take the six gloves and making her NOT look at the glove, hand each glove to her one at a time (NO PEEKING). Hand her a couple gloves twice. Toss a ball into the glove. The POINT is to narrow the selection down not based on price, graphics, name or "fashion", rather, what works. Narrow it down to the best three. Repeat again. Narrow it down to the best two, remembering, NO PEEKING. And then a final choice.

Most of the time you will be surprised. Players tend to buy what is trendy and fashionable. That's... swell. However, what you really want is what works.

Again, best venue, borrow gloves. In lieu of that...
