Bat dropped or thrown to dugout after a walk?

What's on your mind?

Just a quick question. Is it considered disrespectful to drop your bat after a walk and run to first or should it always be tossed to the dug out?

I prefer my players to drop the bat and run to 1st.

The big girls just drop the bat and go to first

Disclaimer: For some reason I misread what was typed...I thought this was about the bat flip on HR during NPF

ON A WALK...drop bat, or drop it near dugout if applicable on way to first...

I've always taught them to drop the bat and to run to 1B like a hit. Sometimes you can catch the pitcher off-guard because she has her head down and is upset about walking the batter. Also teaches them to get to 1st asap, because the ball 4 may be a wild pitch and she can create mistakes by making it look like she will be taking 2nd.

You can also teach runners to get into a pickle or take 2nd when there is a runner on 3B and force the defense to go after the runner or risk giving up a run.

It should never be viewed as showing up the other team, just forming good habits!
