Nice. Look at the 1st base coach. "Oh, well."

If I had been the runner, I wouldn't have even tried to slide at that point.

Are you with the runner or the baseman or neither? Amy

Amy,
I am neither. My daughter has friends on both teams that are pictured. Since we have no life outside of softball, we take her to watch her friends when she doesn't play! The runner attempted to steal after a play at the plate.

If it is after a play at the plate, why is there a girl heading back down the first base line towards home?

While I'm asking questions, why is the first base coach not even looking at the play, and who is the guy in the gray shirt standing along first base line?
Proud fastpitch, baseball, volleyball, soccer, basketball, etc. Dad :)

I must confess.....I am an old fart that forgets more and more! (especially with my nose in a camera!) What I do remember is that the pitcher is making the tag. Runner was on second and noticed the pitcher was out of the circle and took off when the pitcher was receiving the ball as she returned to the pitching rubber. What the runner failed to notice was that the pitcher was outside the back of the circle and was obviously faster than she gave her credit for! It was an exciting play to watch. I will try to have a better memory for details in the future!
