Great picture StatMan, but that should be the poster picture on why a catcher should keep her helmet on.

Was she ok, or was it just the angle of the shot?

Kinda looks to me like she was blocking the plate WITHOUT having possesion of the ball.

There was plenty of room between the legs for our player to slide under. I think she's already on home plate at this point.

I thought she wasn't blocking the plate. Ha. It is funny what we all see in a still picture.

Down on a knee and in the way with no ball in possession = obstruction.

Unless of course the ball was already there and what you see is a carom/ricochet/loose ball. The catcher looks as if she's trying to apply a tag but unfortunately for her, she wasn't able to hold onto the ball.

Okay, ya got me there.

Obstruction or missed catch. Doesn't look like enough collision to knock a ball loose...

If she was trying to block the plate, her knee would be on the 3rd base side of the plate, not on the pitcher's side.

It's a neat picture.
